Colorful new acts and different varieties of dance were added to this year`s Chingay Parade 2014. The parade created a heap of excitement amongst the spectators.
Chingay 2014 which was held at the F1-Pit Building saw unique and fresh acts that astonished the spectators. The new acts included the 4m gigantic puppets, the Ge Tai Performance and lastly the first-of-its kind Outdoor Community Drama. International performers graced the platform from Italy, South Korea, Japan, China, Indonesia and Philippines. These performances added a new limelight to Chingay 2014.
Many spectators who were at the parade for the first time were delighted to be given the opportunity to watch the parade themselves. The spectators also said that if given a chance to participate in such a parade, they would definitely take part in it. “It was cool watching all this stuff and the dancers were really interesting. It would definitely be fun to be able to participate in it. I have never been to something like this before,” said Miss Alisa Ng, aged 16.
The acts performed in the parade brought a lot of emotions to the spectators who were present. Many of them felt glad that they could experience the fun while viewing the Chingay parade. “I feel that it is very fun to be here, the atmosphere is very fun and lively,” said Mr Pung Wee Kian, age 17.
The Chingay parade started in the year 1973. It began as a Chinese-based cultural event which was held to celebrate Chinese New year. Since then, it has evolved over 20 years with the taste of Singapore’s multi-cultural society.
